On Wednesday morning, residents of Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rain. The weather pattern has completely changed and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for the national capital. The department has warned that the weather of Delhi will remain bad for the next five days, in which strong thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds will continue.
According to the latest update of the Meteorological Department, the sky will be densely cloudy in Delhi on Wednesday and Thursday. Meteorologists say that there will be light to moderate rain at intervals. During this period, the wind speed can be 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, which can sometimes disturb people with gusts of 50 kilometers per hour.
The rainy season is going to continue with varying intensity in the national capital. At the same time, the first major showers of monsoon in Gurugram adjacent to Delhi have exposed the administration. After heavy rains, the problem of waterlogging has arisen at many places in the city, leading to traffic jams and flood-like situations. On July 9 also, a warning has been issued of light to moderate rain and strong thunderstorm in the morning and afternoon in some areas of Delhi. Light drops are expected to continue even during the night.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the alert level may reduce from ‘Yellow’ to ‘Green’ (normal) on July 10 and 11. However, ‘Green Alert’ does not at all mean that the weather will clear completely. These two days will also be cloudy and there will be a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning along with light rain. IMD has advised the people of Delhi and NCR to take special care regarding the weather for the next three days, as unstable weather can have an impact on normal life.
