Television personality Ryan Seacrest has revealed the reason behind his last-minute absence from the highly anticipated wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Seacrest said he was among the invited guests and had originally confirmed his attendance for the couple’s wedding celebration. However, he was forced to change his plans after accepting a major professional opportunity that conflicted with the ceremony.

During his programme “On Air with Ryan Seacrest,” the 51-year-old host explained that the wedding invitation was private and confidential, and he respected the couple’s request to keep details of the event away from the public.

Seacrest revealed that after confirming his attendance, he was offered the chance to host Disney Celebrates America: Nashville’s Star-Spangled Bash. The commitment required him to prepare for and host the live programme, making it impossible for him to attend the wedding.

He said the decision was not easy because he was genuinely excited to celebrate the special moment with Swift and Kelce. Seacrest added that he even tried to find a way to manage both responsibilities but eventually realised that the schedules could not be balanced.

Recalling a previous meeting with Swift after accepting the invitation, Seacrest said the singer was looking forward to seeing him at the wedding and had shared her excitement about the celebration. He said cancelling his attendance after confirming his place was disappointing, but his professional commitment left him with no other option.

The host also rejected comments suggesting that his invitation had gone unused, explaining that he had made every effort to attend and valued the opportunity to be part of the couple’s special day.

Seacrest continued to respect the privacy of the event and said the confidentiality agreement was important for all invited guests. He avoided sharing any private details about the ceremony while explaining his absence.

Swift and Kelce’s wedding became one of the most talked-about celebrity events of the year, bringing together stars from the music, entertainment and sports industries. The couple, who began their relationship in 2023 and announced their engagement in 2025, celebrated their marriage in a private ceremony in New York City.
