New Delhi: A tragic accident near Dasanapura in the Bengaluru Rural district claimed the life of a four-year-old girl after she was run over by a school bus on Tuesday. The incident reportedly took place while the bus was reversing, leaving the child’s family in deep shock. Police have started an investigation into the case.

The deceased has been identified as Tanusha, the younger daughter of Kishore and Madhusmitha, residents of Hebbur in Tumakuru district. According to preliminary information, the family had gone to pick up their elder daughter, Hanika, from school when the accident occurred.

Reports suggest that Tanusha was playing near the school premises while her mother was waiting for her elder sister. At the same time, the school bus was being reversed, and the child allegedly came under one of its front wheels. She suffered fatal injuries and died at the spot.

The child’s family has alleged that the accident happened because of the driver’s negligence while reversing the vehicle. They said the incident unfolded in front of the girl’s mother, making the loss even more devastating for the family.

Soon after the accident, the school bus driver reportedly left the scene. The incident has raised fresh concerns about safety measures followed by school transport operators, especially during pick-up and drop-off hours.

The vehicle involved in the accident is said to belong to Kids International School.

Police from Madanayakanahalli Police Station reached the spot soon after receiving information and carried out an initial inspection. Officials from the Chikkabanavara Traffic Police also visited the scene to assist with the investigation.

Tanusha’s body was shifted to the Nelamangala mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Police are expected to record statements from witnesses and examine the circumstances surrounding the accident before taking further legal action.

The incident has left the local community in mourning, with many calling for stricter safety protocols around school buses to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
