Veteran actor Hema Malini has once again addressed rumours of a rift between her family and Dharmendra’s first family, firmly rejecting reports of tension with his first wife Prakash Kaur and sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. The actor said the family remains united and urged people not to believe everything they see online, particularly content generated or altered using artificial intelligence.
Speaking to The Times of India, Hema said, “Ours is a very united family. That’s all I can say. We are all happy with each other.” She also cautioned people against believing every piece of content circulating online, adding, “Please don’t believe everything that is created through AI.”
Rumours about strained relations within the Deol family have persisted for years, particularly because Dharmendra was married to Prakash Kaur before he married Hema Malini in 1980. Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur had four children, including actors Sunny and Bobby Deol, while Dharmendra and Hema Malini have two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol.
Hema has repeatedly maintained that there is no bitterness between the two sides of the family. Earlier this year, she had also rejected speculation surrounding the separate prayer meetings held following Dharmendra’s death. She questioned why she should have to explain every private family decision to the public.

In February, Hema had been even more direct about her equation with Sunny and Bobby. Addressing speculation that she and her daughters were not close to Dharmendra’s sons, she said there was “no negativity at all” within the family and stressed that all the children were fond of their father and of one another.
Her latest comments come in the wake of renewed public interest in the Deol family following Dharmendra’s death in November 2025. The legendary actor died at his Mumbai residence on November 24, aged 89. His death brought the entire family into the spotlight, with separate memorial and prayer events subsequently fuelling speculation about the family’s internal dynamics.

Hema, however, has consistently maintained that private family relationships should not be judged based on what is visible at public events. Her latest warning about AI-generated content also reflects the growing problem of digitally manipulated celebrity statements and images being circulated as genuine material.
The actor also spoke emotionally about her decades-long relationship with Dharmendra. Describing him as her soulmate, she said the two had always believed they were meant for each other and had chosen to live their lives according to their own understanding rather than according to public opinion.
“We never bothered about any of that. We lived our lives according to us, not for people who wanted to criticise or judge us. We lived with true love,” she said.
Hema recalled the support Dharmendra gave her throughout her career, particularly her passion for classical dance. According to her, he encouraged her to continue dancing and believed that dance was spiritual, brought her happiness and helped keep her healthy.
Now, following his death, Hema admitted that his absence has left a void she does not believe can ever be filled. She said she continues to think about him every minute and that grief does not simply disappear with time.
The veteran actor has also continued to remain connected with the Deol family professionally and personally. Recently, she praised Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, calling the film “simply brilliant” and highlighting its message of humanity, harmony and mutual respect. She also praised Sunny and Bobby’s contributions while recalling their affection for Dharmendra.
