Hayden Panettiere was struggling with severe pain and difficulty walking before her sudden death.

The late actress’ death left many shocked when she passed away on Sunday, August 16 at the age of 36.

Her mother, Lesley Vogel, has given insight into Hayden’s health struggle as the investigation into the actress’ death continues.

The Heroes actress’ cause of death has not yet been determined as authorities continue to investigate.

In a new interview with The New York Times, Lesley claimed her daughter had been dealing with a mysterious condition that left her in significant pain.

“She was in pain. She was afraid. She couldn’t physically function properly,” she claimed.

According to her mother, Hayden experienced “pins and needles” in her lower extremities, which made walking difficult.

The former child star reportedly consulted several doctors and tried treatments including massage and acupuncture in an effort to alleviate her symptoms.

Hayden, who was the mother of 11-year-old daughter Kaya with former partner Wladimir Klitschko, was found unresponsive at an apartment in Greenville, South Carolina.

Her death remains under investigation, and no official cause of death has been announced.
