Deepika Padukone Not Part Of Ayan Mukerji’s Sequel: The latest casting buzz around Brahmastra 2 has been shut down by Deepika Padukone’s team. The actor’s spokesperson has confirmed that reports linking her to Ayan Mukerji’s upcoming sequel are untrue. “All recent reports of Deepika Padukone being a part of Brahmastra 2 or associated with the project in any capacity are untrue,” the spokesperson told NDTV.

The clarification comes days after reports claimed that Mukerji and his team were keen to cast Deepika as Amruta, a key character in the Astraverse. Pinkvilla had reported that discussions were underway, while other publications also picked up the casting speculation.

Who Will Star In Brahmastra 2?

While Deepika’s involvement has now been ruled out, Ranbir Kapoor is expected to return as Shiva, with Alia Bhatt also set to reprise her role as Isha. Reports suggest production is being lined up for 2027, following Ranbir’s work on Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part 2.

The sequel is expected to expand the mythology introduced in the first film, with the mysterious character Dev at the centre of the next chapter.

What Happened In Brahmastra Part One?

Released in 2022, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva introduced Ranbir as Shiva, a young man who discovers his connection to the powerful Astras. Alia played Isha, while Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna were also part of the cast. The film ended by revealing the existence of Dev, setting up the conflict for the planned sequel and a larger Astraverse.

Interestingly, Deepika had appeared briefly in Brahmastra: Part One in a glimpse that sparked speculation about Amruta’s future in the franchise. Earlier, Ranbir had also spoken about the excitement surrounding the characters of Dev and Amruta, without confirming who would eventually play them. For now, however, Deepika Padukone’s name is officially out of the Brahmastra 2 casting conversation, leaving the identity of Amruta open once again.
