India Share Market Update: On September 1, major indices of the Indian stock market, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to start flat to negative today. The trend in Gift Nifty also indicated a sluggish start for the Indian benchmark index. Gift Nifty was trading at around 24,197.5 points, down 54 points from the previous closing price of Nifty futures.

In the previous session, domestic stock indices closed in the negative, while the benchmark Nifty 50 closed below the 24,100 level. The Sensex closed down 307.24 points, or 0.40 percent, at 76,957.27, while the Nifty 50 fell 95.25 points, or 0.39 percent, to settle at 24,080.40.
