The innings turned out to be a landmark one in Kohli's career as he registered his 55th ODI century and 86th international ton at the same time.

His latest century saw him post his 13th international hundred against the Windies (3 Tests, 10 ODIs) – a feat previously only achieved by the legendary Sunil Gavaskar, who managed to score 13 centuries in Test cricket against the West Indies, all of which were before the advent of limited-overs cricket formats.
