Vadodara: A medical student drowned at Kukarda waterfall in Naswadi taluka of Chhota Udepur on Friday while on an outing with a group of fellow students.

The deceased, Rahul Punia , a native of Rajasthan and a student of Rajpipla Medical College , had entered the waterfall’s deep waters when he slipped and was swept under.

His friends raised an alarm, following which local residents rushed to the spot and began a search. However, Punia had drowned by the time they reached the site. Locals later retrieved his body from the water.

Emergency services were also alerted, but personnel had to trek for around two kilometres to reach the waterfall due to the difficult terrain.
