Bathinda : Rower Satnam Singh from Fatta Maloka village in Mansa received a cash award of Rs 50 lakh after winning a bronze medal in the men’s double sculls event with partner Salman Khan , clocking a time of 6:13.25. Chief minister Bhagwant Mann presented a cheque to him during a visit to his village to address a Satth programme on Monday.




This is Satnam Singh’s second medal. Earlier, he had won a bronze medal in the men’s quadruple sculls event at the 2023 Asian Games in China.




The 26-year-old is a Chief Petty Officer in the Indian Navy .




Expressing gratitude for the felicitation, Satnam Singh said such gestures would inspire more youths to take up sports. He added that he was inspired by rower Swarn Singh , also from Mansa district, who represented the country in the 2012 London Olympics and won a gold medal in the men’s quadruple sculls at the 2018 Asian Games.
