Ahmedabad: A 25-year-old petrol pump worker was allegedly assaulted and stabbed in the head by two occupants of a black SUV without number plates after he signalled them to wait for their turn at a fuel station in Ambli early on Monday.
The attack occurred around 5.30am at Het Petroleum on SP Ring Road . The worker, Shambhu Thakor , was admitted to Zydus Hospital , where he is undergoing treatment.
According to a complaint filed with Sarkhej police , Thakor had been on night duty since 7pm on Sunday. He was refuelling vehicles when the black SUV arrived at the pump. As another vehicle was being refuelled, Thakor raised his hand to signal the SUV driver to wait.
The driver, and a passenger wearing a black shirt, allegedly got out of the SUV and confronted Thakor. They abused him and began punching and kicking him, the complaint stated. The passenger then allegedly took out a sharp weapon from his pocket and struck Thakor on the forehead, leaving him bleeding.
Thakor’s colleagues, Kishan Thakor and Sachin Joshi, intervened and stopped the two men from assaulting him further. After noticing the head injury, Joshi alerted the petrol pump owner, Hasmukh Patel, who arrived at the spot and took Thakor to Laxmi Hospital in Bopal. He was later shifted to Zydus Hospital for further treatment.
Thakor told police that he could identify neither of the two assailants. He also stated the SUV had no number plates.
