Jeddah: According to a Ministry of External Affairs release, Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed a number of Memorandums of Understanding in a number of industries during his visit to Jeddah. The Indian and Saudi Arabian sides inked Memorandums of Understanding in the areas of space, health, anti-doping, and post-council, according to the MEA.

The Saudi Space Agency and the Indian Department of Space inked a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the sphere of Space Activities for Peaceful Purposes.

An MOU on Health Cooperation was signed between the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Saudi Ministry of Health.

The National Anti-Doping Agency, India (NADA) and the Saudi Arabian Anti-Doping Committee (SAADC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the area of Anti-Doping Education and Prevention.

Additionally, an agreement on cooperation in inward surface parcels was reached between the Saudi Post Corporation (SPL) and the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications of India.

According to a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) news statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman co-chaired the second meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council (SPC) in Jeddah on Tuesday.

However, a terrorist incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, forced the Prime Minister to leave Saudi Arabia early, ending his state visit and calling off a formal banquet.

The leaders discussed the wide range of advancements in commerce, energy, technology, agriculture, politics, defense, and people-to-people interactions at the Council meeting. By signing the session’s official minutes, they reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing collaboration within the SPC framework.

The leaders announced the establishment of a new Ministerial Committee on Defence Cooperation, which reflects the growing defense relations, including joint military exercises, training programs, and cooperation in the defense sector. The Council also created a new Ministerial Committee on Tourism and Cultural Cooperation in recognition of the growing social and cultural interaction between the two countries.
