Obnews Automobile Desk: In India, Skoda and Volkswagen together have launched a major recall campaign. Popular models such as Skoda Keelak, Slavia and Kushak as well as Volkswagen Warts and Taigun are being brought back from the market. The reason for this is – a serious technical flaw found in the rear seatbelt.
According to information given to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), a total of 47,235 units have been affected by this recall. This includes 21,513 units of Volkswagen vertus and Tigun and 25,722 units of Skoda Kushak, Slavia and Kiqa. All these trains were constructed between 24 May 2024 to 1 April 2025 at the plant in Chakan, Maharashtra.
The company said in an official statement, “Skoda Auto Volkswagen India is calling these models withdrawn to overcome the possible seatbelt concern to maintain high standards of security and quality. Our authorized service centers are contacting customers.”
The company has clarified that the seatbelt buckle latch plate has a flaw that can break into a collision condition. Also, the rear center can fail with seatbelt webling and right seatbelt bakkal, which can threaten the safety of passengers sitting behind.

The company also said that no accident has been registered so far regarding this technical fault. All affected customers are being approached and this repair is being completely free. Customers can know whether their car is involved in this recall by entering the Vin number of his car on the Indian website of Skoda or VW.
