SSC CGL vs MTS: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL), Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff (MTS), and Havaldar exams every year. SSC CGL paper consists of questions from General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English comprehension. The SSC MTS paper consists of sections- General Intelligence and Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General Awareness, and English Language.
SSC CGL tier one paper will consist of 100 questions, tier 2 paper will have 150 questions. The paper two on Statistics consists of 100 questions. While, MTS paper will have 90 questions, the total marks in the paper is 270. As per experts, the CGL exam is considered more challenging in comparison to the MTS exam. Though both the CGL, MTS paper consists of similar sections, but the difficulty level in CGL paper is quite higher. The MTS paper consists of a basic level of questions across all sections.
The SSC CGL Tier One paper consists of 200 questions. Section-wise, General Intelligence and Reasoning consists of 50 questions, General Awareness- 50, Quantitative Aptitude- 50, English Comprehension- 50. For correct response, candidates will receive 2 marks and 0.5 marks deducted for wrong answer.
Quantitative Aptitude- The Quantitative Aptitude section will consist of chapters- Computation of whole numbers, Decimals, Fractions, Relationships between numbers, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture, Time and distance, Time & Work, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Elementary surds, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Complementary angles, other sections.
General Intelligence and Reasoning- Analogies, Spatial orientation, Blood Relations, Relationship concepts, Observation, Arithmetic number series, Decoding and coding, Syllogism, other chapters.
English- Idioms and phrases, sentence correction, spelling correction, sentence improvement, cloze test, other chapters.
General Awareness- India and its neighbouring countries, Current Affairs, Static GK, Sports, Science, other sections.
SSC MTS session one will have 20 questions each from Numerical and Mathematical Ability and Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving. The session two will contain 25 questions from General Awareness and English Language and Comprehension. The candidates will be awarded 3 marks for correct response, while one mark deducted for wrong answer.
Numerical Aptitude– Integers and Whole Numbers, LCM and HCF, Decimals and Fractions, Relationship between numbers, Fundamental Arithmetic Operations, BODMAS, Percentage, Ratio and Proportions, Work and Time, others.
English Language– Spot the error, Fill in the blanks, Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms and phrases, One word substitution, Comprehension passage, Improvement of sentence.
